Yesterday, after nearly 20 years of playing professional hockey... former LA Kings Right Winger, Ziggy Palffy retired. And the reaction on Twitter immediately afterwards showed just what a beloved player he was.

We've always had a place in our heart for Ziggy Palffy as a LA King here at The Royal Half. After Wayne Gretzky left town, he was the closest shot we had at a NHL Superstar. People really don't understand just how amazing a player Palffy was... especially as a King. Palffy had 359 points (159 goals, 200 assists) in 335 games for the Kings.

I love everything about this photo.

To honor the legacy of Zigmund Palffy... Spike Coffman, who is The Royal Half's LA Kings Historian, has hand-selected some hockey videos that show Ziggy at his best. So sit back with a smile and a mullet... and enjoy.

A "Ziggy Palffy Hat Trick" is my favorite entry in Urban Dictionary.

Come for the Ziggy breakaway goal, stay for Dominik Hasek's helmet.

This video is so old, it marks the only time Bill Plaschke wrote a good article.
